Optimistic Australian CEO’s invest in digital technology

Confidence in the market has declined “but not quite to the levels one might have anticipated” says KPMG CEO Gary Wingrove.

“What surprised me most was the relatively positive outlook of Australian CEO’s, a bit more positive than their global counterparts,” he said in response to the results of a recent survey.

Mr Wingrove said the optimism displayed by industry leaders could be due to a “natural bias towards positivity” based on their position.

“I think it’s important that any leader shows some element of positive within a realistic framework”.

He added while parts of the economy are struggling, broadly speaking Australia was “not in bad shape compared to many economies”.

“In parts of the economy there is a higher demand than there are skill sets,” he said.

Mr Wingrove pointed out the pandemic had shown the need for greater agility around supply chains and had pushed forward digital investment for many businesses.
